It does not follow that all lawyers who represent odious people are upstanding citizens. Exactly the opposite, in fact. Unless they are doing public-defender work, lawyers get to choose who they represent, and, not surprisingly, the ones who choose to represent scum are more often than not on the scummy side themselves. We're talking about a lawyer for the mob, or someone who is at most one step removed from being a lawyer for the mob. Do you expect me to believe that the lawyers who are paid by the mafia are of unimpeachable character? Fuggedaboutit.
