Do you want another liar President?

The thing I respect most about Barack Obama’s campaign for president is his honesty. He is a man who says what he means and means what he says, and that’s as refreshing to me as showering with Irish Spring.

I also deeply respect how Obama has kept his campaign positive despite the undeniable provocation to sling mud from both Clinton and McCain.

Obama has stated publicly, “Senator Clinton is smart, she is capable, she is tenacious. She would be a vast improvement over the status quo.” I agree with that. I’ve tried very hard not to make any negative comments about Clinton, because although she seems hell-bent on tanking the Democratic party’s chances of taking the White House if she isn’t the nominee (c.f., her repeated public statements that McCain would be better on foreign policy than Obama), I want either Clinton or Obama in office a heck of a lot more than I want McCain. You can be sure that if Clinton is the nominee in November, I will vote for her.

However, right now we aren’t choosing between Clinton or Obama and McCain, we’re choosing between Clinton and Obama. And the question I ask is, quite simply, do you want another liar in the White House?

Clinton claims that she always opposed NAFTA. Recently released records from the National Archives, as well as the public statements of people who were involved on both sides of the NAFTA fight, prove that she is lying.

To support her claim of foreign policy experience superior to Obama’s, Clinton has told a story about traveling to Bosnia for her husband and being subjected to sniper fire upon her arrival there. Publicly available evidence proves that she is lying.

As a bonus, not exactly a lie but certainly indicative of the tenor of Clinton’s campaign, James Carville, one of her advisers, has publicly compared Governor Richardson’s endorsement of Obama to Judas’s betrayal of Jesus.

Clinton is smart. She is capable. She is tenacious. She is also a lying, manipulative person who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. She has that in common with all too many of her fellow politicians, and this is why she cannot bring real change to our country. Barack Obama can, and Barack Obama is our future.
