“This Modern World” added to comics aggregator

By | March 5, 2023

By way of penance for not removing JumpStart from my comics aggregator much sooner, I have added Tom Tomorrow’s This Modern World. It comes out early Tuesday mornings. There’s also a “(1-day delay)” version in case you like to read your comics in the middle of the night and don’t want to miss it.

Quoting from the author’s bio at The Nib:

Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) is the creator of This Modern World, a weekly cartoon of political and social satire which has been a mainstay of the alternative press for more than two and a half decades. His work has also appeared in publications including The New York Times, the New Yorker, Esquire, Spin, Mother Jones, US News and World Report, the Economist, and many others. He is a two-time recipient of the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, the 2013 recipient of the prestigious Herblock Prize for editorial cartooning, and a 2015 finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

Some might say This Modern World‘s biting satire is cynical or pessimistic. I say it’s realistic. This is defintely one of those “We laugh so as not to cry” comic strips.

If you think the term “woke” is pejorative, This Modern World probably isn’t for you.

Then again, if you think the term “woke” is pejorative, I’d rather you didn’t use my comics aggregator.
