Boston Herald fails to cover pro-Israel rally

By | July 22, 2006

I just sent this letter to the editor of the Boston Herald:

To the editor:

How can it be that an anti-Israel rally attended by hundreds of people merited coverage in the Herald, while a pro-Israel rally attended by thousands did not?

How can it be that an anti-Israel rally organized by a single national organization merited coverage in the Herald, while a pro-Israel rally organized and sponsored by nearly 20 local organizations did not?

How can it be that an anti-Israel rally attended by a radical Jewish organization, whose agenda is supported by virtually none of the Jews in Boston or around the world, merited coverage in the Herald, while a pro-Israel rally advocating a position supported by the majority of Jews, and indeed the majority of all Americans, did not?

How can it be that an anti-Israel rally supported only by a Boston City Councilor merited coverage in the Herald, while a pro-Israel rally supported by Mayor Menino, nearly the entire Massachusetts Congressional delegation, and a host of other prominent figures did not?

The Herald seems to support Israel’s right to defend itself against Hezbollah. If so, then why don’t you report the news which proves that the people of Boston do as well?

Sincerely,

Jonathan Kamens
